Hello, Good-Bye

Hello, Good-bye (Part I, 1969-1992), 2010
letters, thread, woodcut, burnt paper, wax
dimensions variable

Hello, Good-bye presents the accumulation of a lifetimeʼs worth of correspondence as
an archive of personal, undisclosed narratives. Burning, illuminating and otherwise
marking the letters to create a new account challenges the principals of preservation; no
longer cherished keepsakes, or reliable history, they allow reflection on the nature of
communication and the value of the written word.

  1. Hi Ann

Your work looks fabulous–as ever. I wish I could see it in person as scale is so important. Congratulations on all your recent successes.

I have a letter I wrote to you last year…maybe I’ll finally send it.

    Thinking of you
